MANYABOLO

Manyabolo is a poignant and immersive African theatre piece that brings to life the story of Kwamavovo, a village burdened by a mysterious curse and the death of a man. Through the lens of three interconnected families, the narrative explores the scarcity and symbolism of water—both as a natural and spiritual resource. With a cast of 11 and a crew of 6, the production marries indigenous African storytelling traditions with contemporary theatrical techniques. Water, known in Sesotho as Manyabolo, forms both the literal and metaphorical thread of the play.
